Before a lender will agree to give you a mortgage, they will instruct a surveyor to inspect the property and provide a valuation report. Whilst it is a useful document, it is for the lender's benefit and you should consider getting your own survey.
A building comprises many different materials, many of which are prone to decay over years. Some defects can materially affect the structural stability of the building. Most forms of construction require periodic maintenance to continue to perform satisfactorily.
